MESA Smart Manufacturing Community: Digital Thread/Digital Twin

MESA Smart Manufacturing Community: Digital Thread/Digital Twin

Wednesday, July 10, 2024 (12:00 AM - 12:00 AM) (CDT)

Description

The concept of a digital twin has gained significant attention in various industries, as it offers a virtual representation of a physical entity or system. However, not all digital twin models are created equal, and it is important to understand the characteristics of a good model. Current state models will need to be flexible to solve future problems, adaptable to simulate and predict potential future state scenarios and outcomes, and sustainable to ensure reusability for new problems that change with a variety of business conditions.

Topic: Reconsidering the standardization of DT applications: Evaluating the necessary level of flexibility in DT models.

Digital Twin (DT) applications have gained significant attention in recent years due to their potential to revolutionize various industries. However, the standardization of DT applications and the level of flexibility required in DT models have become topics of debate. This paper aims to reconsider the standardization of Digital Twin applications by evaluating the necessary level of flexibility in Digital Twin models. By examining the advantages and challenges associated with standardization and flexibility, this topic provides insights into the optimal approach for designing and implementing DT models.

Learn from each other as we discuss:

  • What are the balances between standardization and flexibility to ensure the effective utilization and scalability
  • of Digital Twin model?
  • Is developing and deploying flexible and standardized DT models a best practice? Can you provide any specific
  • examples that demonstrate a flexible DT Model? What process did you execute to make it flexible?
  • To properly scale a DT model does standardization and flexible need to be a key requirement?
  • What industries allows for the more flexible DT models?
  • Does standardization and flexibility help leverage DT models across the four types of DT models?
