We seek to understand the state-of-the market, understand what companies have done that has or has not worked, documenting questions that MESA and the community can help answer. Overall, the goal is to accelerate each participant’s learning and progress toward Smart Manufacturing. 

Topic: Interoperability and the Smart Connected Factory
Industrie 4.0 has 3 key use cases that affect the Smart Connected Factory (or, require that):  (1) Vertical Integration, (2) Horizontal Integration and (3) Customized Manufacturing (or "lot size of 1").  In this session, we will discuss challenges and requirements for the first 2 of these, and attempt to answer questions such as:

1. What are the key standards and technologies being being used to support vertical integration?
2. What are the key standards and technologies being used to support horizontal integration (Factory to Factory)?
3. What are the challenges and gaps?
