We seek to understand the state-of-the market, understand what companies have done that has or has not worked, documenting questions that MESA and the community can help answer. Overall, the goal is to accelerate each participant’s learning and progress toward Smart Manufacturing. 

Topic: What New Approaches are Supporting Today’s Needs?

Materials, intermediate products and subassemblies, and finished goods all need to move around the plant. Internal logistics has always been important to both manufacturing and supply chain success.

Join the MESA Smart Connected Supply Chain Community call to share and to learn from others. We will discuss questions such as:

• With today’s focus on agility and resilience, what new approaches are you taking or seeing?
• Are any of the systems you use for warehouses migrating into your factories?
• Have you tried automated approaches such as AMRs, AIVs, or AGVs in your plant operation? What makes these robots or vehicles work well? Or not be a fit for you? Are they autonomous or always human-in-the-loop?
• Are traditional internal logistics systems, such as forklifts and conveyors, changing? Is there more intelligence built in? If so, can you upgrade from older systems?
• What are the challenges of setting up and maintaining software for automated logistics?
• How do these systems integrate to your MES, APS, EAM, QMS, and other plant floor systems?
• How important is process optimization and Kaizen prior to such a project? How do your internal logistics systems respond to changes from continuous improvement?
